The Education America Network - Job Fair Sponsor

September 2nd, 2005

Dear VASPA Members and Friends,

The 37th Annual VASPA Conference and Job Fair scheduled for November 9-11, 2005, at the DoubleTree Hotel, Charlottesville, Virginia is now only nine weeks away!

The Education America Network (www. educationamerica.net) is proud to be sponsoring this year’s Job Fair scheduled from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, November 9 and will be working with VASPA to maximize the recruiting capacity for this event. Starting immediately, EAN will be marketing the 1.5 million visitors who use its website to find teaching and other education vacancies. Job seekers who indicate they are interested in teaching in Virginia will be invited and encouraged to attend the Job Fair and/or submit resumes to the EAN database. The resumes will be sent to registered VASPA recruiters prior to the Job Fair. Registered job seekers will be updated on a regular basis about the Job Fair and its participants. And special notices will be sent to Education America Network users listing the job opportunities being offered by the registered Job Fair recruiters.

As you know, the conference theme is Raising the Bar in HR and features a new offering to this year’s activities—a pre-conference array of workshops – scheduled from 8 am to 12 noon on Wednesday prior to the Job Fair. If you haven’t already done so, please consider being a presenter at this new pre-conference session or at the regular conference session and complete the online Request for Proposals information on our homepage.

We have three possible pre-conference options. For the pre-conference to “make” we need 15 presenters for an option. The three options are:

  1. HR 101
  2. Intra-department Team Management
  3. Continuing Legal Aspects of HR

A few of the already slated workshop offerings include:

  1. Recruiting the Highest Quality Teachers
  2. Creating an Effective NCLB Central Office
  3. Clarification of the New Licensure Regulations
  4. Internal Branding: Defining and Differentiating the Employment Experience in Your School Division
  5. The High-Tech and Highly Efficient and Effective HR Office
  6. Application and Applicant Screening for High Quality Recruiters

Mark November 9-11, 2005, the dates on your calendar for recharging your spirit sharpening your skills and renewing your bonds of fellowship. What better place is there to do that, especially in the Fall, than Charlottesville! And what better people to do it with than VASPA friends and colleagues!

Look for Job Fair and Conference arrangements and continuing developments postings on our website at www.vaspa.org. The VASPA Executive Committee is ready to assist you with the registration process and looks forward to making your participation as rewarding and enjoyable as possible.

See you soon in Charlottesville.
